Our digital video-otoscope enables remote examinations, more efficient working methods, faster treatment, improved documentation, and increased patient participation.
The idea arose in connection with an improvement project at a nursing home in the Region Öst. Older people are often bothered by wax blockages that cause unnecessary suffering, not least among those with dementia. A wax blockage is easily fixed but sometimes has to be sacrificed due to time pressure or other priorities. With our Digital Video-Otoscope, an assistant or nurse can easily inspect the auditory canal and then send images digitally to physicians for assessment and so that action can be quickly taken.
So much more than an otoscope
We have also developed additional accessories for our otoscope so it can be used as a multi-purpose instrument. By replacing the otoscope with a fiberscope, you can easily use a hand-held fiberscope camera to examine the neck and airways. The background behind this innovation is that many patients in stroke departments have swallowing difficulties, which easily spread into their neck and can lead to acute respiratory stops but also severe chemical lung inflammation. By using a fiberscope, you can easily get a good picture of the back of the throat to see if there are any blockages and residues that need to be removed.
